Kind words heal. We don’t need scientific proof for this. You’re probably experiencing this regularly. Don’t you feel better after being told something nice? Don’t you notice that your headache would suddenly vanish after being praised or appreciated?
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24 RSVCE
Words can heal but they can also hurt. So be careful with your words.
Hurtful words usually come out in anger. Pleasant words, in happy moments. Manage your anger to avoid saying unkind words. Be always happy that you may have only pleasant words to say.
When you feel like blurting out ugly words out of anger, stop. Is it really worth it if you let off your steam and bash someone? I’ve seen many occasions when the one who lost his temper and said bad words ended up as the ‘bad guy’ even if he has some valid reasons to be mad. It could really be very embarrassing.
When you genuinely praise someone or just tell someone nice words, don’t you feel good, too? So why not do it more? You won’t only make someone happy, you will also make yourself feel better and healthier.
Kind words are what we need more of. Be generous with your kind words. It doesn’t take a lot of work.
Your kind words may just be the little push that someone needs to take actions towards his success. Your pleasant words may just save someone from committing a grave mistake. Your soothing words may just be the sound that one needs to feel comforted.
And what do you get from criticizing or bashing others? You just get more enemies. And that’s not good for you.
Say more kind words to others and to yourself and help heal the world.
