The Best Food Medicine

Hippocrates, father of medicine, said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

It used to be that we make food our medicine but over the years and with the advancement of technology, we’ve become dependent on instant remedies like medicine for our ailments.

The danger of taking medicine instead of eating nutritious food to treat our diseases is that medicine don’t usually treat the real cause of the disease but only the symptoms, which may be signs that the body is undergoing self-healing.

Yes, the body can undergo self-healing. It is designed to heal itself.

The body usually undergoes inflammation as part of the process of healing itself and when you take medicine to stop that inflammation, you are really disrupting the healing process. And so what happens is you don’t get healed completely. Then when the inflammation returns, you again take medicine and so no proper healing is done. And you remain sick.

Taking medicine to stop any disease is not really always the best thing to do. The best is to nourish yourself with the right food. Indeed, let food be your medicine. Stop being dependent on medicines that usually come with negative side effects.

Make healthy food like fruits, vegetables and superfoods be part of your daily diet.

But all these nutritious foods may become ineffective in keeping you healthy when you are in constant stress. So, take care that you don’t get stressed.

For that I recommend taking the best food medicine – the Word of God.

The Word of God is indeed food and it is the best food medicine anyone can have.

The Word of God is the truth that will set you free, free from worries and stress.

This best food medicine gives you rest and calmful sleep.

The Word of God is Jesus and you can have Him in the Holy Eucharist.

Jesus is the best food medicine!

“For My flesh is food indeed… ” John 6:55 RSVCE

Taking Jesus as your food regularly is the best way you can have a deep relationship with Him. How is this so?

As a Catholic, you should know that you cannot receive Holy Communion unless you are worthy. Being worthy means you are free from serious sins. If you are not worthy, you need to repent of your sins and confess them to a priest.

Regularly receiving Jesus in Holy Communion ensures that you are following His commands and as such you are gifted with graces leading you to having faith as big as a mustard seed or even more. You are so much closer to Jesus!

With that strong faith, I’m sure no stress can affect you negatively. And you will be healthy physically and spiritually!

May you have your best food medicine daily!
